1. Make My Blog Easy To Find

β€œYou never succeed as a blogger until people know where you’re”

I’m familiar with the above statement and thus I’ve decided to find time to make my blog appear for every eyeball. Blogging is like a business where you can make sales when you catch the sight. Moreover, my most important cause for making my blog easy to find would be because I want people to serve.

I hope that I could meet this blogging resolution through the following ways!

#Β Getting good search engine rankings for our content is one of the easiest ways to make a blog easy to find. To improve the SERP of my blog posts, I’ve recently bought a good keyword research tool, LongTailPro.

#Β I have been commenting on many blogs but now determined to leave my footprints in some foreign blogs to grab the attention of its readers.

#Β Paid advertising is what I haven’t considered so far, but if a few bucks can help people to find my blog easily, I wouldn’t hesitate in doing that. After all, my purpose is to help my audience.

2. Double The Blog Traffic

β€œTraffic is the fundamental key to the blogging success”

Contributing powerful and useful content in a steady mode would boost your blog traffic. I’m getting decent blog traffic through both organic and referral, but I wanna double my visitors in 2015. For this, I have the following steps in mind:

#Β Increase the post frequency per week from 1 to 2.

#Β I’ve already been on various social networks but missing traffic from great places like Reddit, Quora, G+ communities, Forums etc. So, I’ve resolute to show my presence in such social platforms to double the blog traffic.

3. Engage My Blog Community

β€œEngage blog community is a vital blogging task which would motivate them to devote their time & energy for your blog”

Having a community around your blog will make your readers feel wanted and loved. I’ve already engaging my audience by offering beneficial data and often replying to their comments.

In 2015, I want to make my blog more appealing and I believe that it is a good chance of showing gratitude to my awesome readers (including YOU!). I have a few plans for this:

#Β I would be available to help my treasured readers in any form I can and have decided to utilize my experience gained over these years to help you if the form of blog posts.

#Β I’d like to present the posts with better readability by avoiding adverbs and complex sentences and hence I’ve started using an amazing tool Hemingway App.

#Β I’ll continue to share realistic tips and valuable facts in a controversial tone.

4. Learn New Skills

β€œLife is a journey of never-ending learning”

I trust the same for blogging too! To acquire good reliability in your blogging niche and to edge over your competitors, you should keep learning the new blogging skills.

MyMagicFundas has evolved a lot since its inception but is not yet full-fledged. I will learn new aspects of blogging this year.

#Β I am yet to fully explore the Google Analytics which is an awesome tool.

#Β I wish to learn on How to market a blog in a perfect mannerΒ to reap some benefits.

#Β I crave to gain knowledge on recent Google algorithms for SEO and understand Google Ranking Factors.

5. Add Caring Social Media Followers

β€œSocial media trends will continue to consider important by the bloggers and marketers”

Social Media is an immense prevailing area on the internet and the bloggers should find the ways to leverage this platform to connect with their audience.

Social media followers are not mere numbers; they should give attention to your shared posts on social networks. Thus spending quality time to build rapport with the potential social audience would help to make strong connections and getΒ share your content on their network.

My social media followers have shown their massive support throughout this year. But still I have some inactive and incompatible people on social networks. To have helpful social followers for my blog, I’d like to doΒ the below activities.

#Β I will crap out of the latent followers using the tools like un tweeps, Inactivities + and socialbro.

#Β I’m gonna make use of Klout and Kred to measure my own influence and to include like-minded followers.

#Β I unable to find a direct tool to get rid of inactive followers on Pinterest. May be, I use this helpful guide to unfollowΒ immobile Pinterest followers.

6. Improve My Old Posts

β€œA wise blogger is the one who improves (or repurpose) the old content”

No blog has 100% updated posts. Old blog posts (even if they are evergreen) might have some parts to be edited. It can be a change in the tutorial you’ve written or a service you’ve reviewed that has been closed now.

Improving your old blog posts with trendy information would not only aidΒ you to get traffic from search engines, but also provides a fresh feeling to your blog visitors which would compel them to come back to your blog regularly.

#Β I would like to create SlideShare and podcasts for my well-liked blog posts.

#Β I’ll interlink some new blog posts with old posts.

#Β After editing the posts, I’llΒ share them with social media followers to gain some social cues and comments.

# Furthermore, I’ve idea to collect opinions on same topic and republish as a β€œExpert opinions/group interviews”.

7. Make My Blog To Load Fast

“Google love the blogs that load in no time”

Blog speed actually impact search ranking and hence you should give more attention to make your to load faster. Not only search ranking, quickΒ loading blogs has ability to index faster and also attract more customers.

I use clean theme & cache plugin, delete revisions &Β spam comments, not having unnecessary widgets/ads and optimize images through Smush.it. But when I checked my blog inΒ website speed test through Pingdom tool, I’ve noticed that itΒ takes more than 3 secs to load. I’m little bit worrying about it and thus,

# I’d would like to have powerful premium CDN solution like MaxCDN or a free alternative like CloudFlare.

# I prefer to use P3 Proflier Plugin in a regular manner to find the culprit plugin that ruins the blog loading speed.

8. Run Contests To Encourage Loyal Readers

“Running contests would grab new readership and trigger idle subscribers to visit your blog”

Contests are not only filled with enthusiasm and engagement, but are also a source to patron loyal readership.Β My blog has no significant contests till date. So my New Year resolution would be to organize some attractive giveaways for my adored readers and I will follow some important steps to ensure running the successful contests. So,

# You would getΒ some valuable products/services for free or at huge discounts.

# Also, You may expect some exciting cash Giveaways in the upcoming year.

9. Focus On Email Marketing

“Email marketing is the most affordable way to increase brand awareness”

List building is more critical for blog’s growth as it is a cost-effective way of maintaining communication with your clients/subscribers. Moreover, it would help you to reach different audience, keep your readers updated and promote your giveaways/products effortlessly. I know all these factsΒ very well, but truly speaking, I didn’t focus much on Email marketing this year and I’d blame my limited time for this. As I have good no. of active subscribers, I’m planning to

# Choose premium EmailΒ marketing provider with mobile-friendly features to get higher quality of attention.

# Have powerful Email marketing strategies to escalate relationship with my subscribers.

10. Think Positive &Β Health Care

“An attitude of positive expectation is the mark of the superior personality” – Brian Tracy

In blogging, it is compulsory to think positive. There were occasions when my blog’s traffic went down and Adsense service was blocked for a specific reason. But the constant support from my mentor have helped me to stay fearless and thus MyMagicFundas is alive today. I’ve learned from my mistakes and positively build a lively blog from the ashes of my failed attempts.

Even though, I got practiced to stay positive under terrible circumstances, sometimes I easily get demotivated for petty stuff and IΒ wanna get rid ofΒ this bad attitude through the ways listed below

# Recollect the good phases of my blogging career.

# Get inspiration from successful blogging personalities.

# Take suggestions (few)Β from fellow bloggers.

Taking care of health is also on my New Year’s blogging resolution list. I would be more vigilant towards my health by gettingΒ proper sleep & exercise and develop healthy blogging habits.

  1. Nirmala you are ending this year with one of the best blog posts as you have mentioned your resolutions for the year 2015 and at the same time you have made your blog readers know the resolutions you achieved in the year 2014.

I feel happy that my resolutions are mentioned by you. Nitin and Vishal are my friends and I that’s why went through their resolutions too. After running a tech blog for a year and more, my next target is to get some success with my blogging niche blog. Nirmala I’ll definitely need your support for it.

I wish you Happy New Year in advance. At the same time I hope that you’ll come with same type of superb posts in the year 2015 too.

    1. Hi Mohit,

I liked your resolutions … And I agree that power of social media is immense. We should indeed invest proper time for them.

All the best with your resolutions. πŸ™‚

      – Rohan.

P.S. I didn’t knew any of the other bloggers except myself then to I went through their resolutions. 😳

    2. Nirmala Santhakumar

Thanks for your New Year wishes Mohit, wish you the same πŸ™‚

Glad with your praising words and hope I’ll meet my blogging goals this year. Yeah Sure, will try to contribute some valuable posts for my visitors.

Good to know your resolutions of blogging, my best wishes to achieve them. Sure, my support will always be there for you, no worries. Happy blogging, keep coming πŸ™‚

  2. Hi Nirmala ma’am,

Wow! Interesting post. I agree that readers should find our blogs easily. Talking about traffic, the worst mistake I make is I don’t share my blogs very often. And as my resolutions says … In 2015 I am going to publicize them much more.

No matter how much we learn there is always a scope of learning more … with new set of skills we can definitely give our blogs much needed rank and fame.

Yes, social media followers are really awesome. Recently just to test whether my followers really respond to me when I approach them … I individually sent them Christmas wishes and greetings without using any kind of tool or service … I tweeted to almost 150+ Twitter followers and so many actually responded (via re-tweets, favorites, replies and direct messages). Moreover, I shared a card which I posted on my blog and its page views sky rocketed in a single day. That’s when I realized that having active followers is so very important.

And I periodically keep un-following those who aren’t active or engaging even after lots of attempts to involve them.

Improving older posts is something in which I am very lazy in. My older posts are so badly written that I feel like deleting them completely. But I plan to make them better when I find some peace.

Healthy blogging habits should be #1 on every blogger’s list. As we say “Sitting is the new smoking”. Sitting not only is the cause of various diseases but also can reduce our life span. So it is utmost important to stop sitting for long hours and protect our eyes from strain. This is my resolution as well. And I am trying to follow the tips you stated once in your previous posts.

You are doing so well. I loved the resolutions you already accomplished in the year 2014.

    More Power to You!

Oh, what a lovely surprise that I find myself listed in the five active bloggers list, sharing their resolutions.

I am planning to start video blogging maybe in 2016 or towards the end of year 2015. Also, I am surely going to go on digital diets very often and find some quality time to explore, think and learn.

Thank you so much Nirmala ma’am. I wish you achieve all your goals and Happy New Year.

I loved that little flower you added in the last line. πŸ™‚

    Best Regards,
    Rohan Chaubey.

    1. Hi Anirudh,

I am glad you liked my resolution. Yes, we often tend to ignore health over blogging. And not sitting for long hours and heading to bed early can help.

Talking about your resolution, social media consumes time. And most of the times I often find myself talking rather doing something which is productive. So yeah, I too have to reduce my social media time.

Happy new year and may you accomplish your resolutions. πŸ™‚

I have just started a couple of months back and there are 101 resolutions which are all trying to take my top 5 spots. All important and all to be done ASAP :)) – I think I will make this list next year.

  9. Hello Nirmala ma’am,
A great resolution I must say. And congrats for the accomplishment of the resolutions made last year.
As for me my resolution would be inspired by you for at least two points. The Google Plus one- I have to give it a bit more priority. I conducted the social media round up of experts over my blog so I now know that Google plus is important.
And I also know that if I wanted to excel in Google plus I need to follow your foot prints to some extent because you have been successful there.

I would also like to make the old posts legible to the maximum. They are darn ugly.
I have deleted over 10-12 posts because I didn’t think they provided value to the readers. I also think that including these wonderful buddies’ resolution here was awesome.
Good to see Rohan, Vishal and others here.
Wish you a very HNY in advance as well as to the readers of MMF πŸ™‚

  10. These are the perfect effective steps. I am also going to edit my old posts to update with upto the date information. the posts I have contributed in 2009 are still ranking high on search engines but with outdated information. They are defiantly first on the list.

Thanks for giving me some the other useful suggestions.

  11. Nirmala,

A great informative article to end the year with!

Infact I have taken notes some of your valid points as its a learning phase for me.
Healthy lifestyle is definitely my top priority. Social media presence is another area I need to focus upon.

Remarketing my content is my third and final resolution. Really hope to achieve all these 3 goals of mine.

Wishing you luck with yours too πŸ™‚

    1. Nirmala Santhakumar

      Hi Sangeetha,

Hope, all of yours wish comes true as well as mine. God bless us!

A very-very Happy new year to all of you! Enjoy your day!

  15. Hi Nirmala

This post is the most perfect guide to make the year 2015 a successful blogging year by following the tips and suggestions mentioned in it.

It is very common that either we get much ambitious while making resolutions or be so defensive and think as if someone would punish us if we fail to achieve our targets.

The right way is the midway to set the goals fully keeping in view of our potential and it is more useful to do SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats) analysis before making new year resolutions.

I appreciate your way of guiding in detail by explaining every step and equally mentioning the reasons to take a given step. This can do only a veteran blogger like you.

Thanks a lot for sharing this very very useful post.

Happy New Year to you and have a wonderful first weekend of new year.

    1. Nirmala Santhakumar

      Hi Sanju,

We should have great ambition at least to achieve small stuff. Thus made some helpful resolutions to grow my blog. I’d say thanks for finding time to check my post, keep coming πŸ™‚

  16. Hi Nirmala,
Good to read your New Year resolutions.
Its really good to have such desires, and
its good to fulfill it also a great task but
to take such decision and try to practice
is a good attempt, but in my case I do not
take such decision because my previous
experiences shows or taught me that it
all break without even going beyond the
first or second week of the year!! πŸ™‚
As someone rightly put it and I Quote:
“Resolutions are Made To Break!! LOL πŸ™‚
Pl. don’t misunderstand me, or this is not
a discouragement note to you or any of the people
mentioned here or expressed their resolutions. πŸ™‚
All together wonderful collection of resolutions!!
May all or atleast half of it may fullfilled this year! πŸ™‚

      Seen you soon πŸ™‚

  17. Hi,
Appreciating!. Nice post. I came into your site while reading a Facebook status. Nice blog. However, you should improve your blog design to make it more attracting. The home page is not so attractive. You’re hiding the date from your articles. This not good for SEO. Just some suggestion!! Avoid please if you don’t like. πŸ™‚

  18. Hello Madam Nirmala,
Reading this lovely post of yours, one thing obviously come in mind, what am I doing wrong on my site? is one question which keeps popping up in my mind.
I’ve learnt my lessons after reading this post and obviously make sure I keep my blogging resolution which is networking with fellow bloggers as well.

      Hey Kabie,

Yeah, networking with others bloggers is a vital task in blogging as it would help us to take our blog to next level.

  19. Great list Nirmala! I feel that you can achieve most of those this year. Plan it out well and break down the tasks as small as possible to work your way towards the end goal.

I look forward to seeing your achievements by December…or at least by mid this year! Go for it!

  20. Hi… Nirmala I wonder is blog loading time 3 secs lot more??? I checked my website and it loads in 5 secs sometimes even 3-4 secs, so is it bad for my website. Thanks to mention MaxCDN, I will definitely look forward for it soon. Please clear my doubt

  21. Hi Nirmala,

    Good resolutions here.

I wrote something fairly similar and I found that many people that make resolutions, only 8% of them actually follow through and attain their resolution. That number is really startling.

Hopefully, you’re in that 8% bracket. Because it’s fairly easy to have a resolution but it’s much more difficult to actually follow through with it.

I’ll always be in favor of engaging and list building … which are two that you mentioned here. Those will always get my utmost attention.

    – Andrew

  22. Hi Nirmala,
