This post provides some effective Pinterest marketing tips to improve traffic to your business website.

Social media has turned into an integral part of internet marketing.

I presume that the top businesses use aggressive social media tactics to get sales & leads, and thus they stay active on popular social networks like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.

But there is a wonderful place existing on the web to get the targeted visitors and yes, it is Pinterest! A recent study states that most of the online customers from Pinterest have a clear intention of getting services/purchasing products when compared to visitors from other social networking websites.

Online businesses can easily sell/offer their product/service through Pinterest as it allows the users to view content according to their interests and could connect with like-minded people.

Are you doing any online business? If so, you might ask me “How do I use Pinterest as a marketing tool”. Before answering your query, I want to raise some questions to you like,

1. Does your business have images?

2. Are you updating your business blog with attractive pictures?

3. Would you like to share the images related to your business with your clients?

If you reply to me with “Yes”, then Pinterest is an exact place to improve your visibility and drive targeted traffic to your business.

2. People literally do pinning and repining here, and thus it is more likely to reach a wider audience. Sharing content and interacting with them would let your business get loyal customers and build trust with them.

1. Set proper Pinterest account

Setting up your Pinterest account is quite easy and just fill out all the relevant details about your business. You may use your name or business name and verify your website. Many people will look at your Pinterest profile before deciding whether to follow you.

So, the completed profile can help you to get more Pinterest followers. Spend some time to provide all the information needed for them. Link all your social profiles and make use of Email notification options to receive emails about the user activities on your pins.

You may visit Pinterest for Business to get the details of some resources like case studies, follow buttons, etc.

2. Create Pinterest boards with keywords

In any online marketing, keywords play a vital role in directing customers to your business website. Select topics/categories related to your business and create boards for your clients with keywords.

Since these board names have incredible search capabilities, they would help people to find your business through keywords. Make attractive Pinterest titles with creative thoughts to reach more followers.

3. Create eye-catching visual content

Interesting, attractive, and quality images are more likely to get pinned by the users & followers. So, give more attention while choosing the images for your business website/blog.

Pinning different types of images like infographics, videos, slide shares, etc. would let your customers engage well with your pins. While creating noticeable pictures for your business website/blog, include a watermark of your business logo to build a memorable brand and preserve pin reliability.

4. Optimize your website for Pinterest

Optimizing your business website/blog for Pinterest is an important tactic that comes with a Pinterest marketing guide to drive referral traffic from it. Do this by adding “Pinterest follow the button” and “Pin it” buttons to pin the images on your web page.

Encourage your visitors to share your business details on their Pinterest network. You may visit the Pinterest page to get the browser button for Chrome. You may also hide pins in blog posts to check the performance of the pins and make the look of the article uncluttered.

5. Follow strategic pinning

Pinning images to the boards is a fun part! Add pins to your Pinterest boards with a short description. As I specified early, titles and descriptions are searchable on Pinterest and thus you may include searchable terms in your pin description.

Following an effective pinning strategy would let you keep your existing clients and get potential ones. So it is good to follow some thumb rules like consistent pinning and limited pinning. You should consistent in pinning the images. Otherwise, your followers might forget your boards.

Likewise, excessive pinning would annoy your supporters, and they might unfollow you on Pinterest. Thus, the pinning frequency does matter in Pinterest marketing plans.

6. Don’t forget content curation

Just have in mind that an effective Pinterest marketing strategy is not focused only to promote your business. To gain credibility among Pinterest users, do content curation and avoid self-promotion. Share great visual content on your boards from other sources to establish you as an authority in your niche.

Pin the images of the businesses that you admire or that you want to work with. Provide how-to guides, training tutorials, videos, crisp images, special events, etc. to engage your followers.

7. Pay attention to SEO

Making your Pinterest content SEO-friendly would not only help you to rank high on Pinterest searches but also on search engines like Google. Find out the words that people are using when they search for something linked to your business, add those keywords to your Pinterest boards, and description of your pins.

Also, use hashtags and URLs in the description. Moreover, do not ignore the “About you” section on your profile as this 200 space with keywords will boost your visibility in search engines. Out of all, if your business images get pinned and repinned every time on Pinterest, backlinks will create to the source page.

Also, include the keywords and keep the boards relevant to your business for easy navigation. Offering customizable boards for the users is a significant feature of Pinterest, and thus it would be good to maintain such boards in an organized manner.

  7. Hi Nirmala,

    Informative post indeed 🙂

Yes, Pinterest has come up in a big way and that’s because people are glued to images more as compared to the text. That’s right…your posts stay there much longer than Facebook, so all the more reason you should BE there and even Pin daily, if possible. Try using different timings to see what suits you best or when you have other pinners online.

Without using any tools, I am glad to have over 2K followers now and that’s just because I pin regularly and always return the favor – don’t forget to do that for anyone pinning your post.

Yes, if you set your profile up well and link your blog up too, people can relate and immediately connect. There are posts on my blog where images have been pinned over a 1000 times – that is the power of one single image! And to date it continues to bring me daily traffic, so I know it works wonders if done right.

Thanks for sharing. Have a nice weekend 🙂
